Sections 1 : Connecting to the Internet
Dedicated line connectivity tends to be the most cost effective method
for small to large groups of users. However, it is also the most expensive
means to be connected to the Internet. Dedicated line connections are
usually connections that are permantly connected. Sometimes these connections
can temporarily be disconnected, but for the most part the lines are active
regardless if it is in use or not.
Dedicated line connectivity establishes an Internet connection through one
computer, typically referred to as the gateway machine. Other users either
connect to this machine to connect to the Internet, or the gateway machine
is apart of a network (or LAN).
